Diana Mine - Mohave County
Where: Cerbat Mountains near Chloride
Travel Conditions: Paved and Dirt Road Easily Accessible
Operation Dates: I did not come across specific operation dates for the Diana Mine. I suspect the mine was operated from around 1929 to 1940 time frame along with other mines in the area.
History: Diana mine is located 1.5 miles W of Chloride and produced Gold, Silver, and Lead. The mine consists of surface and underground workings. The Diana mine is one of many in the Chloride area located in the foothills of the Cerbat Mountains.
What you will see today: There is an old ore shoot next to a mine shaft with several concrete foundations around the area.
Comments: Arizona Magma Mine (Diana Mine) is a past producer near Chloride which produced gold, silver, and lead.

People: George Gustave Wald
Genealogy: George Gustave Wald was born to Gustav and Elizabeth F. (Lautz) Wald in Boston, Massachusetts on April 28, 1883. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before moving west, arriving in Utah as a sampler for the Boston Copper Company sometime before 1906. He settled in the Arizona Territory in about 1910 and began working as a mining engineer in eastern Arizona, most likely with Ray Consolidated. He later worked with the Magma Mine in Chloride, Arizona. Wald married Elizabeth Percy Carpenter in Phoenix, Arizona on December 21, 1916 and the couple had three sons: George Gustave Jr. (1917-1982), Edwin Prescott (1920-2014), and Karl Alden (1923-). The family permanently relocated to Alhambra, California in 1925. George Wald died of heart disease in Chloride, Arizona on November 31, 1939.
