Odds and Ends with some other State Historical Happenings
This page contains some Arizona historical photos I have come across that are not necessarily related to mining but provide an insight into some of Arizona's history.
Bee A. Brother's Cabin Located in the Santa Rita Mountains. Built by Bee and his friend "old Man Wilson" in 1929. Wilson lived in the basement. Bee, his wife Helen, and children George and Flossie. | Cienega Bridge is an open-spandrel arch bridge located near Vail Arizona. The bridge crosses the Pantano Wash with construction starting in 1920 and completing in 1921. This bridge was significant as it was part of US 80 the transcontinental highway running from Tybee Island, Georgia to San Diego, California. US 80 was replaced by Interstate 10 in 1977. The Cienega bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 30, 1988. | Boiler Located Near the Dean Mine in the Hualapai Mountians Near Kingman |

This sign stood off I-10 at the town of Picacho for many years. It was removed in 2014 in preparation of widening I-10 to 6 lanes. | On May 29, 1984, Kolb Road had newly graded slopes as it was being extended through Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The extension would run north to south across the base and eventually connect to Interstate 10. I worked on servicing support equipment for this project. | |
This unique caterpillar scraper with the conveyor belt was used to move dirt for the Kolb Road extension through Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The dirt was moved to create the bridge that now goes over the rail road tracks on Alvernon Rd. | What is this contraption? White Cliffs Wagon Trail is part of an old wagon route used in the late 1800s to bring ore from the Stockton Hill Mines to the railroad. | Part of a steam engine boiler tank left behind at an old mine. Portions of the tank have been cut away so it could not be used again. | Unknown Miners at camp most likely in Mohave County. The vehicles in this picture are exciting to see from the actual time in which they were produced. Seeing these vehicles in a remote location speaks for itself. |
The 3 Way Drive In was located in Greenlee County at the intersection of U.S. Route 191, Arizona State Route 75, and Arizona State Route 78. It featured three screens when it was in operation. Ball Mill Advertised in Miners Handbook by Allis- Chalmers Company of Milwaukee WI. Note the concrete footings for the ball mill.
