James B. Stetson

 

Birth Date: March 1, 1865

Birth Place:  Fruitvale, Alameda, California 

Death Date: May 20, 1905

Death Place:  Santa Rita Hotel in Tucson Arizona

 

Cause of Death:  Fell from the third floor window on room 319.  Death is noted as a concussion to the brain.

Key Facts:  Member of the Tucson Aerie No. 180 and Eagles.  General Manager of the placer operations of the Santa Rita Water and Mining Company of California in Greaterville, AZ.

History:  Mr. Stetson was 37 years old upon his death and had been married for two years. Mr. Stetson was visiting Tucson and was scheduled to meet with the President of the Santa Rita Water and Mining Company along with a stockholder the follow day of his death.  The news column published in the Arizona Daily Star dated Sunday, May 21, 1905 identified Mr. Stetson as "a man of excellent reputation, a genial companion and a person well qualified for thll the position he has been holding."  The article also mentions Mr. Stetson setteling in Greaterville in 1902.  The full article can be viewed at the following link:  https://www.newspapers.com/clip/34462748/james-stetson-death/
