Gold King Mine - Mohave County
Where: Moss Wash Trail Near Kingman, AZ (Hualapai Mansion)
Travel Conditions: Off Road Trail Requires High Clearance 4WD Vehicle
Operation Dates: Late 1920's
Description: Gold King Mansion is an historic, two-story concrete building built in the late 1920’s by the Gold King Corporation which used the ornate structure to entertain wealthy investors and to house the mine foreman. The nearby Gold King Mine produced gold, silver, copper, and lead, but production never reached the level investors had hoped for. The stock market crash in October 1929 brought an end to the mine and to the mansion.
What you will see today: The remains of the old mansion, some old concrete footers, and the mine tailings.
Comments: This is a great stop along the Moss Wash off road trail and the mansion is open to explore.
