Sayer Spring - Yavapai County
Where: Outside Wickenburg along Constellation Road
Travel Conditions: Dirt Road is 2WD accessible
Operation Dates: N/A
Description: Sayers Post Office was established November 17, 1908 with George Sayers as the postmaster. The exact location is unknown. (Arizona Place Names)
Sayer spring is a source of water for the ranchers and wildlife in the hot desert area.
What you will see today: There is a small broken wall with the name Sayer Spring written on it. The spring is a short walk up a trail behind some trees. The water is piped down to the lower, level ground for cattle and wildlife to drink. I have seen a small door protecting the water supply but it is not locked and a small pool of water can be seen inside. A date is etched into the concrete just inside the door reading 8-7-26.
Comments: This is not a mine but is located in an area that was heavily mined and provides water for livestock. I felt it was worth mentioning as it is part of the mining area history.
